If Dove does not create commercials targeted towards men with the next 3 months I cannot allow my self to continue purchasing from a sexist organization. I will boycott Dove products until such time you chose to change your sexist attitude. You can be sure I will? tell all of my friends and family about my decision and the reason.

Hope to hear from you soon

    Hello

The Dove Campaign for Real Beauty is a great idea. However, it can be improved. As a man I feel discriminated because Dove is only promoting positive self image and self esteem for women. None of the ads are targeted towards men. I can only deduce Dove? does not value men; as such, it does not feel the need to promote self esteem for men. If this is not the case, I would like to see ads targeted towards men.

The commercial itself is not sexist. But Dove is sexist. Because all the campaign for real beauty are targeted towards women. If dove were not sexist it would also be promoting positive self image and self esteem for men. I emailed a complaint to Dove. I copy pasted it for as a reply to this post if any of you care to read it. And if you? think men are not pressured, you are sexist.

Girls… believe it or not personality does shine through.
It could rot a “hot girl” into a bitch.
… Or it could make you the most beautiful being that’s ever stepped in the face of the earth. When us guys really fall in love with you, it is because of a lot more than the size of your jeans or your bra.
We love a confident girl… we might be shallow, but some of us are smart enough to recognize a truely beautiful girl.
    Be happy with yourself.

I didn’t say you have to cover yourself up with layers of make-up. 1 layer of foundation to cover some redness and mascara isn’t tangerine. And a thing I didn’t mention before, I broke my nose twice. So if I didn’t look like that in first place, why should I not do it?! and I did give a FU, the surgery was for me and not for others. I’m NOT self-obsessed(?) not everyone who notices (self-conscious about) themselves is self-obsessed.

I remember when I broke down during art class because they called me fat (well I was and still am but when you are pre-teen it’s just devastating) when i was 12-13 and my art teacher told me that when see was little they were laughing at her because she was too skinny… never thought that that would be a problem and because my mother was always between 57-70 kilos max so I even asked her if i was adopted. School was my living hell… so much happened there… but some day…

  8. abbiea600 said:

My whole… Predicament with this issue, is girls who plaster themselves with 6 inches of make-up, wear short skits with nothing under them, and cover themselves in fake tan enough to get them the nickname ‘Tangerine’. I’m just proud to be ‘One of the boys’ and not the stereotypical self-obsessed bitch. If I was in your situation, I would not have plastic surgery at all, and just give a big FU to whoever said a bad word to me.
I drive my point that it’s unhealthy to be self-obsessed overall.

thats the problem, we cant change it. body image and competition like this is fucking human nature. skinnier,, prettier people are healthier and chemically more appealing. if you’re not beautiful enough, you’re just not. It doesnt matter how big your heart is, you won’t have as many friends, people won’t look at you the same as other people, but that’s who you are and you have to live with it

Wow, such useless animals, bred to be completely incapable of any feat, weakened by society, resulting in a pathetic person who is permanently stuck in a thought loop about her own appearance, the one thing in the world that matters the least.

If she didn’t have shelter, or enough food to fill her stomach every night she wouldn’t have time to worry about superficial things like this. What a waste of a human being.

Yes. I am aware of the media putting girls down. That’s not a good reason to lose massive weight or do plastic surgeries. But when it’s about you, and you’re 100% percent sure with your decisions, why not?
Make-up is not something that would cover up your whole natural features if you don’t overdo it. So quit saying make-up is a mistake, there is nothing wrong with feeling comfortable with yourself. She likes herself without make-up(?) Rock on. But it’s not a false to wear make-up.

  17. xMakeYouSmile said:

    1. You’re an idiot. you’re not even her but you pretend to analyze her as if he was your twin sister. If she did believe in true beauty she wouldn’t go showing it off. So no, I disagree with everything you just said.
    2. Make-up and plastic surgery is no way for people who are insecure. Some people might feel uncomfortable with themselves and that’s absolutely alright to improve their imperfection. There is nothing wrong with making yourself feel more comfortable.

  18. resrevereverser said:

    (@xMakeYouSmile)
What she says is that she thinks makup and plastic surgery ect, is for insecure people, that the media shouldn’t put that pressure on girls her age, and also that chooses not to be affected by it.
She did not in any way say that she was “pure and upright”, or “a pure legend, and a natural beauty”.
She just said “I am, who I am – and that’s an important lesson that the beauty industry needs to learn.”

  19. xMakeYouSmile said:

What are you TALKING about? That wasn’t even close to what I meant. She told us she doesn’t wear make-up when nobody even bothered to ask her about herself. Wearing make-up doesn’t make you normal, but she describes it as “if you don’t wear make-up you’re a pure legend, and a natural beauty.” Get it now?!!

  20. resrevereverser said:

    (@ xMakeYouSmile )
What exactly is “pure and upright” about not wearing makup?
Are you saying that she is trying to appear strong and indepent, or even rebellious, for not choosing not to do somthing that is considered normal, when in fact you think she is not really that sort of person?

    im all for self esteem,
