Smart Kat asked: I like grilled chicken breast, brown rice & edamame.
I also stuff tomatoes with other vegies, a few gracker crumbs & just a bit of cheese, topped with cracker crumbs & a bit of cheese. My boyfried loves them & they only have 25 calories per half a tomato.
I also keep chunks of low-fat ham & pineapple with a bit of cinnamon & sweetener in a bowl in the fridge.
It’s a low calorie diet somewhat low on sugar & fat, with a good balance of grains, vegies, fruit, meat & even some dairy.
Any ideas?

myra cambelll asked: I was wondering because this week has been hectic with school and everything and I calculated the amount of calories I ate the past few days and it was only around 900………….I’ll start eating better tomorrow with around 1300 calories, but I was just curious how long it takes for low calorie diets to slow down the metabolism.
For example, if I ate 800 calories one day, would it slow my metabolism down?
Basically, I’m asking how long it would take for a low calorie diet to make my body go into starvation mode……..
I’m consciously trying to eat better now because due to exams, I’ve been eating candy and tuna packets basically.

martin h asked: I usually try to eat around 1500 calories a day. I have been losing weight off and on with a low calorie diet for about 3.5 years. I have lost about 60 pounds, and I am about half way to my ideal weight. It’s going much slower than I want, and it’s partly because I get heart palpitations and panic attacks if I eat less than 1600 calories a day for more than 4 days. If I try to eat less than 1000 calories it gets really bad.
Exercise seems to help a little to relieve anxiety, but I still feel my heart pounding slightly when I am at rest. When I eat 2500 calories or more my heart beat becomes inperceptible again. I am considering changing my weight loss program to about 2000 calories a day, and to keep increasing the distance of my walking or bike riding until I am at a nearly marathon level, so I won’t need to eat less than normal calorie intake to lose weight.

amberche asked: From what I understand your body enters ketosis when you eat very little carbs because your body burns carbs first and then burns fat. So is it safe to say that if you are on a very low calorie diet and still eat carbs, your body will enter ketosis after you burn all the calories you have been eating on your low calorie diet?

God’s Miracle Child asked: Do you burn calories faster on a low carb diet then you do on a low calorie diet?
Like for example
Guy A: Exercises for 1 hour and burns 400 calories on a low calorie diet
Guy B: Does the same exercise on low carb diet
How much will Guy B burn if he exercised the same amount as guy A?

skinnygirleegirl asked: VLCD (very low calorie diet) people eat like 500-800 calories a day and so do gastric bypass post-op patients. So, I weigh 180 pounds and if I start eating 600 calories a day to lose weight, wouldn’t it be the same as if I went in and got a gastric bypass? What is the difference medically if someone would just go on a diet similar to having the bypass done?

killers4 asked: I’ve done Atkins for the past year and found that after reaching within twenty pounds of my goal weight I can’t lose any more. Its also not very practical when in college. Will I gain all the weight I lost back even if I switch to a low-calorie diet? Also, I use the treadmill at least an hour a day.
