myra cambelll asked: I was wondering because this week has been hectic with school and everything and I calculated the amount of calories I ate the past few days and it was only around 900………….I’ll start eating better tomorrow with around 1300 calories, but I was just curious how long it takes for low calorie diets to slow down the metabolism.
For example, if I ate 800 calories one day, would it slow my metabolism down?
Basically, I’m asking how long it would take for a low calorie diet to make my body go into starvation mode……..
I’m consciously trying to eat better now because due to exams, I’ve been eating candy and tuna packets basically.

martin h asked: I usually try to eat around 1500 calories a day. I have been losing weight off and on with a low calorie diet for about 3.5 years. I have lost about 60 pounds, and I am about half way to my ideal weight. It’s going much slower than I want, and it’s partly because I get heart palpitations and panic attacks if I eat less than 1600 calories a day for more than 4 days. If I try to eat less than 1000 calories it gets really bad.
Exercise seems to help a little to relieve anxiety, but I still feel my heart pounding slightly when I am at rest. When I eat 2500 calories or more my heart beat becomes inperceptible again. I am considering changing my weight loss program to about 2000 calories a day, and to keep increasing the distance of my walking or bike riding until I am at a nearly marathon level, so I won’t need to eat less than normal calorie intake to lose weight.

Amanda B asked: I’m on a low calorie diet, and I frequently deal with constipation issues. I only have a bowel movement 2 or 3 times a week. I eat plenty of fiber, exercise, and drink water. What else can i do to make my digestive system more regular?

amberche asked: From what I understand your body enters ketosis when you eat very little carbs because your body burns carbs first and then burns fat. So is it safe to say that if you are on a very low calorie diet and still eat carbs, your body will enter ketosis after you burn all the calories you have been eating on your low calorie diet?
